Our local veterinarian clinic, Vets North had a client accidentally reverse into their large water tank which made a large hole on the side wall. We were called in shortly afterwards to assess the damage and provide an urgent quote for insurers.
Once we got the go-ahead, we were on the job straight away to be sure this key vet clinic was fully operational. We started by pumping all the water out, and as you can see in the photos there was a lot of sludge at the base of the tank. Next up, we water blasted the interior, fully cleaned and vacuumed it out, after which when it became obvious the steel skeleton of the tank was exposed, so it was in pretty bad condition and required restoration work. We repaired the hole by reinforcing it with heavy gauge fibreglass mesh embedded in the plaster inside the tank, and added new mesh to the inside walls. The job was completed by adding a full coat of plaster, and then a cement wash to the interior walls, then the tank was fully rinsed out. Although a complex job, this was done over four days - including the weekend - which meant the tank was ready to be refilled with water by Monday.

This water tank clean up job is a perfect example of what we do every day, and the level of service and quality of work our clients have come to expect. Our client was concerned about water quality so called us in to check out his water tank. We discovered it hadn’t been cleaned for many years, and contained loads of debris and sludge. Â
We got stuck in straight away, removing the heavy sludge and debris from the tank walls, then scrubbed out the floor. All remaining debris was vacuumed out, we then rinsed with clean water, and made it ready for a tank load of fresh water to be delivered.Â

Fixing a Floated Tank

Here's what can happen after a big storm! After a huge amount of rainfall over two days, our client was shocked to find his water tank afloat! We were out later that day to assess the job and make a plan to reinstate it. Over the next few days, we pumped out the water surrounding the tank, emptied it, and dug out all around it so we could lift it out. After lifting the tank, we prepared the surrounding area so we could reinstate it in the right spot. We then repaired the pipework, fixed the tank and gave it a thorough clean out.
To finish, we backfilled the ground to the right level and arranged a refill.
