Water Tank Repairs

Your concrete water tank is a valuable asset to your household, and from time to time, it may need repair or maintenance. Any weeps, hairline cracks or small leaks can cause bigger issues if not attended to, otherwise you risk further water loss, bigger cracks and more cracks! 
Auckland Water Tank Repairs Ltd specialise in the repairs of all concrete water tanks.  Owner/Operator Iain is a time served solid plasterer with over 30 years experience in the trade, so you know you’re in good hands.  Iain and his team use cement based products with a waterproofer admixture incorporated into the plaster mix for strength and durability. 
A water tank repair will usually take 4 days.

Schedule:

  1. Pump out water tank and vacuum to a clean state. 

  2. We use a high pressure water blaster to clean the tank’s interior walls and expose any cracks or underlying issues.  We also water blast any cracks on the outside of the water tank.

  3. We vacuum the tank, removing all of the sediment and water 

  4. Next, we re-plaster the areas inside of the tank that require fixing.  We use a cement based plaster with waterproofer added into the mix.  Any cracks or holes are bridged with a heavy gauge fibreglass mesh embedded which reinforces the plaster.

  5. Any Exterior cracks requiring attention are patched.

  6. A waterproof cement wash is applied.

  7. We undertake a final rinse and vacuum to help reduce any lime, alkaline, odour or taste to your water 


Don’t worry - if you just have the one water source, we can help you out by supplying a 1,000 litre temporary water tank plumbed into your water pump.

Water Tank Cleaning

Regular water tank inspections and cleaning are essential to having good water quality. The Department of Health recommends annual checking and cleaning of water tanks, as mosquito larvae, bacteria and really anything that is on your roof can end up in your tank and can cause health problems to you and your family.

Schedule:

  1. We will need access to power 

  2. We drain the water tank and remove any sludge, debris or any foreign matter 

  3. We scrub the inside walls and floor until it is fully clean (no chemicals are used in this process)

  4. We fully rinse the walls and floor of the water tank, then vacuum out any remaining debris

  5. The water tank is now clean and empty - so its all ready for your water delivery 

  6. If you would like, we can also provide a free report of the overall condition of your water tank

Reinstate Floating in Ground Water Tanks

​Does this look familiar?  Yes, we can fix floating in ground tanks! 

Schedule:

  1. Pump out water surrounding the water tank and empty the tank.

  2. Dig around water tank to lift the water tank out.

  3. Lift water tank out and prepare area to reinstate water tank.

  4. Reinstate water tank. 

  5. Repair pipework.

  6. Repair water tank and clean. 

  7. Backfill ground level to desired height.
